Our History
R.I.C.H. Kids Inc., established as a public charity in Studio City, CA in 2006, originated from the vision of its founder, Kay Smith, a Flint, MI native. Kay's exposure to Monster's Diversity Leadership programs as both a student and touring facilitator left her astonished by the impactful edutainment programs. Inspired, Kay embarked on the journey to start a nonprofit that could make a difference in her hometown and beyond, resulting in the birth of R.I.C.H. Kids Inc.
Since its inception, R.I.C.H. Kids, Inc. has evolved to produce meaningful events, educational opportunities, and sustainable programs for all. Notable initiatives like the Flint Water Festival, Drippie, Big Four Racket Club, Camp Hydrate, and Cars for Humanity showcase the organization's commitment to making a positive impact. Collaborating with NBA and NFL champions, award-winning Broadway producers, playwrights, actors, Grammy and Oscar nominees, Harvard University, Microsoft, and New York Times bestselling authors, R.I.C.H. Kids, Inc. actively connects communities to world-class programs, individuals, and organizations with the aim of leveling the playing field and enriching lives locally and globally.
